About John

I currently reside in Mobile, Alabama. I spent most of life in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Joined the US Navy out of high school training in advanced electronics on submarines. Received a degree in Applied Electronics with additional schooling in computer engineering. With an eye for art, I excelled early in school with drawing/painting. After a birthday gift of a Kodak Instamatic 10 found my focus in photography. Soon I was into 35mm using the school’s darkroom and as sports photography for the high school yearbook. I still enjoyed the 110 and even the Kodak Disk formats. I continue to stick to the 35mm format for its simplicity and portability. I went fully digital in 2003. I still have a connection to film as to me it has a special bond with making the image than what we do with a digital process.

Photography has become more of a focused pursuit than a profession. I don’t have just one field in this medium that I shoot but use photography to freeze a moment in my life. While shooting weddings, portraits, and events are fulfilling my love is what Mother Nature has given us. I feel shooting nature and landscapes is a way to record what we have and seem to take for granted as many are becoming a limited resource. I also enjoy the technical part of photography from macro to Astro, always pursuing something different techniques of looking at the world from another angle. I hope to capture what I see in our world and show others what an amazing place we live in.
